Cristina came from Ecuador, a land rich with culture but poor in opportunities. Her parents dreamed of America, the land of second chances. They crossed borders with nothing but faith in what could be. But even in the land of opportunity, Cristina’s family found themselves on the margins—undocumented, unseen.

She grew up knowing that life could be taken away with a single decision from a distant authority. But she didn’t let that fear define her. She fought for those like her, those without papers but full of potential. Cristina co-founded United We Dream, and through her, undocumented youth found a voice. She fought for DACA, giving hundreds of thousands a chance at the American dream. Her courage became their courage.
